Potato Easter Egg Stamping Craft!

Easter is one of the most exciting holidays to a child and From the Easter bunny to decorating eggs and all the egg hunts – why wouldn’t a child love it? The weather is fantastic, the pastel colors everywhere and the kids so excited for the Easter bunny to make his debut. What could be better than that? How about some great Easter desserts and crafts? YES! The kids love making crafts to take home to put up as decorations around the house as it gets closer and closer to Easter.

We love doing potato stamping every single year. It is relatively simple to do and takes a little bit of time for set up of course. You only need about two potatoes cut in half and four colors of paint – any colors you choose! In our project below we used orange, yellow, pink and purple which worked out well. You can make the design however you decide on the potatoes. I went with dots, a zig-zag option, and stripes. It wasn’t too difficult to get the pattern on them with a standard knife.

White Card Stock Paper

Just wash vegetables before using them and let dry.

Cut potatoes in half and design a pattern with your knife on each side.

You can even leave them plain with no design.

Put some paint into the bowls with a potato – like in the picture above.

Stamp the vegetables on the paper and let dry!

Easter is such an exciting time to do crafts and projects with the kids. So many different ideas out there from bunnies to chicks and everything in between. I know I love to let my creativity shine through as holidays pop up throughout the year! This potato stamping craft is relatively easy to set up, and children of all ages can participate. Happy Easter from my family to yours!

Easter Egg M&M Cookies

Can you believe that it is Easter time already? It feels like 2019 just started in my eyes. I can’t believe we are now discussing Easter plans and the summer is coming up quickly. With the Easter season approaching, I decided to whip together some delicious Easter Egg M&M cookies for the family and wanted to share the recipe with all my readers! If you haven’t tried cookies with cornstarch included in the ingredients, you definitely want to attempt some one day. They will change your life, and it makes a world of difference.

These cookies call for the “Easter Egg” speckled bag of M&M’s they sell at most convenient stores or grocery stores in the Easter section. You can use regular ones or even the pastels to make them, but I loved the look and taste of the egg ones instead. I want to give you a fair warning about this dough, you will need to refrigerate it for a good two hours before baking, and I know that can sort of be a pain at times. Trust me when I say it is worth it in the end because they are the softest and most delicious cookies I have ever tasted.

Easter Egg M&M Cookie Recipe

Deliciously soft cookies with an Easter touch.
Servings: 24 cookies
Author: Dezarae Kennady

  • 3/4 cup Stick butter softened
  • 3/4 cup Light Brown Sugar packed
  • 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 egg Large
  • 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 2 cups All Purpose Flour
  • 2 tsp Cornstarch
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 bag M&M Easter Egg Speckled

  • Combine butter, sugars, egg, vanilla, and beat on medium-high until well creamed.
  • After the sugars are a creamy consistency add in the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and mix until combined with a spoon.
  • Add in M&M's and fold them in carefully with the mixture until it seems like they are spread out evenly throughout the batter.
  • Create 2 inch balls with the batter and place on a large plate. You will need to flatten them down slightly. Cover the plate with plastic wrap and put in the fridge for a total of 2 hours at the minimum. If you don't want to bake them right away you can store them in a container for up to 5 days in the fridge. Do NOT bake with warm dough.
  • Preheat oven to 350F, line the cookie sheet with silicone mats, parchment paper or cooking spray. Place the pre-made balls on the cookie sheet with at least 2 inches apart. Bake for 10 minutes - they may look uncooked but they will firm up as you let them cool. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing them to a cookie rack.
  • Once cookies have cooled completely store them in an airtight container at room temperature for one week.

If you currently do not own the silicone baking mats – I highly recommend getting a set because honestly, they are amazing, easy to clean, and I feel like my cookies come out SO much better. They are fairly inexpensive so that part is fantastic! I am going to put a couple of links below so you can check them out if you do decide to get a few. If you get a chance to make these cookies, leave a comment below to let me know how they turned out and if you love them just as much as me!

St Patrick’s Day Kids Hand Print Four Leaf Clover Craft

With St Patrick’s Day right around the corner – what better way than making a cute craft with the kids to hang up as decorations?! This craft only takes a few supplies – paint, paper, and a paintbrush. It can be dressed up to be put on canvas so you can hang it in the house for years to come or on white card stock to hang up on the fridge. We opted to go with the card stock this time around but can’t wait to make them next year on canvas for each of the parents. Such an excellent idea for just about anyone!

This St Patrick’s Day I am doing a little themed party with green snacks/lunch, a coin hunt, and cute small craft for all the kids here during the day. Holidays are something that I look forward to every year and love decorating for March. I love that Pinterest offers so many different types of projects and activities to do with the children. Everything from sorting, learning, counting, and coloring to simple games like bingo! I can’t wait to spend the week experimenting with the kids so I can share some new ideas with you all. I have some cool treats and crafts coming your way!

Let’s get started on this handprint clover craft to do with all your little’s at home!

Supplies: green paint, paint brush, and canvas and/or white card stock paper

~ Simply paint the child’s hand with the green paint. Stamp toward the top two corners with it slightly open. After two stamps make sure to re-paint the child’s hand for the last two stamps.
~ After all four corners have been stamped correctly take a paintbrush to make the stem of the clover. If the child is old enough to do it themselves – even more awesome!
~ Let the paint completely dry before hanging up on the fridge or wall.

Keep an eye out for even more St Patrick’s Day goodies to be posted on the blog. Hopefully, these cute ideas get you in the holiday spirit. Be sure to pin the craft for later too!

Ideas For Throwing A Fortnite Birthday Party!

I really wanted to write a blog post about throwing a Fortnite themed birthday party this year. I searched everywhere for ideas and inspiration – yes even Pinterest without any luck! It seems like they do not make much party wise which I am quite honestly surprised. These companies could make some big bucks right now on all things Fortnite, but I rarely see items being sold. So of course, I wanted to share with you all what I decided to do for my sons 10th birthday and hopefully give you some excellent ideas that you could use as well. I most certainly didn’t go all out like most people did but looked adorable and festive for him to enjoy.

So for starters, I used pretty basic decorations on the tables and streamers around the space. Most everything I got online at Oriental Trading Company. I seriously use them for almost all my parties. They have so much to offer and at a great price. For the centerpieces on the main table, gift table and my bar top – I put together a “Supply Drop.” I bought an 8 pack of the navy blue gift bags and attached the supply drop icon that I made below. I attached it for anyone that might want to use it and just print it off. I cut it out and taped it nicely on the bag so you couldn’t see the tape. The yellow balloons we had filled up and tied onto the top of the gift bag. That was a relatively simple task and fit the theme perfectly!

For this birthday party, we had a sleepover of about 9 boys in total. I decided to make little chests for each child with small snacks for the night. In the game Fortnite, you find these chests and open them to get supplies for the game. You could totally have things in the chest that have to do with the game such as bandaids, slurp juice, etc. I just went with small snacks, and little candy treats with the child’s name on them. These were easy to put together and fill up before the party. They looked nice on the counter as decorations and the boys really loved the idea!

My favorite item for the party was the drinks! I found someone on Etsy to make labels that I could print off that had the words ” slurp juice” and “chug jug” on them to go over mini blue Gatorade. Super simple project but looked incredible when finished. I also purchased a blowup treasure chest on the site for the Gatorade & water to go in. Blowing it up was a little more time consuming than I would prefer, but after it was complete it went with the decor perfectly! It also held the ice and lots of drinks for the evening with a mess or hassle for the kids. You could put a lot in this cooler which makes it even more awesome!

The plates and napkins for dinner I got on a different site than Oriental Trading company. I will link below to the site – and those were the only tableware I could find for the theme Fortnite. We ended up doing hamburgers and hotdogs for dinner, a bounce house for the entire evening at a fantastic rate and Bahama Bucks for the treat! The sleepover was a big hit, and the kids were entertained and super behaved. I couldn’t ask for anything better. If you throw a Fortnite themed party let us know in the comments and ideas, you can suggest for others. I would love to hear from you. I hope this helps some mamas out there searching and feel free to pin for later too.

Links below are to all the items I purchased to throw the party! There is so much to choose from by this company! I paid about $50 bucks total plus free shipping! Just click the picture and it will take you to exact site for the item. Its awesome!

Plates can be purchased here –Fortnite Plates, Napkins, and Cups

This company also offers a pinata that matches the theme. We didnt do anything like this but for $30 it is really cute and matches perfectly!

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and what better way to celebrate than making some delicious treats?! Am I right? Who doesn’t love chocolate anyways! This recipe for bark is super simple to make yet so cute and fun. I love that it is so quick to throw together without a ton of different ingredients too. If I am being sincere, I used the leftover chocolate from the chocolate covered strawberries to put the recipe together! The kids devoured it quickly along with the chocolate covered strawberries this week – SCORE!

This recipe calls for just the perfect amount of sweet and salty, so much that you will love every single bite. Definitely useful for holiday parties at school, work or just for the fun of it. You can do just about anything with this recipe depending on the holiday. I may even attempt to make some for St Patricks Day. Its positively good no matter the season. Let’s get started and feel free to pin it for later. I sure do appreciate all the pins & shares!

Melted chocolate – any type

Pretzels – any brand

Sprinkles – variety

Line pan with wax paper & spread pretzels out on the pan.

Use melted chocolate to drizzle over the pretzels – I used both white and dark chocolate.

Before the chocolate dries make sure to put on sprinkles.

Let chocolate dry completely before breaking into pieces and putting in an airtight container.

Valentine’s Day Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Love is in the air and Valentine’s Day is right around the corner! I absolutely love decorating for Valentine’s Day as red, pink and white go really well together and give the house a certain feminine touch. It also might be because I just took all my Christmas decorations down a month ago and my house looked incredibly bare for some time now. Who knows?! Valentine’s Day is such a love/hate holiday for some people but I enjoy it each and every year. I plan on showcasing some goodies, crafts, and slime for you all this week to give you some inspiration as the holiday approaches!

These chocolate covered strawberries are delish and super simple to make. You can be as creative as you want and add all types of colors, sprinkles, and even chocolate chips to create a fantastic platter of love filled goodness! In this recipe, I used white and dark chocolate to coat the berries, but you can use all different types – Wilton supplies just about every single color you can think of! I also use these candy melts to dip my cake pops in when I make those for specific events/parties! I can guarantee if you make these for Valentine’s Day for your someone special they will love them – who doesn’t enjoy a handmade gift anyways? Let’s get started!

Strawberries – 1lb

Chocolate Wafters – used chocolate and vanilla

Ghirardelli Candy Making and Dipping, Dark Chocolate Melting Wafers, 10 Ounce Bag (Pack of 2)

Ghirardelli Chocolate White Candy Making Wafers, 10 Ounce

Sprinkles – any kind

Optional: Wilton Chocolate Maker – Wilton Candy Melts Candy Melting Pot

Wash and dry strawberries while you are heating up the wafers in your Wilton chocolate pro, microwave, or stove.

Once the chocolate is melted, you will make sure to dip the strawberries in a deep enough dish, so the chocolate covers the berry completely. Hold the fruit by the stem.

Set the dipped strawberries on wax paper.

Before the chocolate hardens, add sprinkles if desired. If you are wanting to drizzle chocolate on top make sure the chocolate is all the way hardened before doing so.

Let the strawberries dry completely before moving them to an airtight container. Keep in the fridge until ready to serve – use within 3 days.

Bring It On 2019 – New Year New Goals!

Welcome 2019, I am embracing you with open arms. This past year has been incredibly rough teaching me and opening my eyes to many things I haven’t yet seen, experienced, or felt ever in my life. I suffered more heartache than I care to discuss and I have honestly changed so much in just a short amount of time. I am slowly trying to pick up the pieces and move forward as that is what is needed right now. I pray that 2019 takes it easy on me and things start to get back to normal around here. I hate to start a post off on a sad note, but don’t worry it gets better! Goodbye, 2018 and bring on 2019!

This will be my year of change as I am more determined than ever. Seems everyone right now is talking about their word of the year, so I took some time to think about what I personally needed most before writing on this topic. I am in desperate need of change, but also some ‘self-love’ is what I would like to call it. Now let me explain a little and go more into detail of my plans to make 2019 one fantastic year! If you have goals yourself, I would love to hear about as well. I know that a lot of people don’t believe in setting goals, I understand that. I am a goal oriented person and love to be reminded daily of what is ahead of me. Every year I make a list, print it off, and on the fridge, it goes for the entire year. Looking back on 2018 – I accomplished most of my goals and can’t wait to spend this year attempting some new ones!

My word of the year is going to be BALANCE. I desperately need balance in my life. I work long hours trying to help everyone, I try to show up for everything, and I tend to wear myself out often. I am a people pleaser and am grateful that I have such compassion and caring heart. I just really need to have balance at times. My weekends are typically filled up with cleaning, groceries, and events. I had to think of ways to make things easier on myself – such as groceries being delivered, taking evenings to just wind down instead of cleaning, reading before bed, and saying NO if I can’t make it happen. Learning to say NO has been one of the hardest things for me, but I am getting better with time. I just can’t do it all.

To make the balance work in my household and also strive for other HUGE goals such as paying the debt off from my surgeries – we both are working pretty hard to get there this year. I’m still working long hours alongside my husband that is doing the same. Debt is such a considerable, and we are really trying to get it paid off as soon as we can. Last year we conquered a ton and hoped to do the same this year. That does mean we do work a lot of hours – about 12 hours each day, but hoping we don’t have to do that for much longer. We decided together to have one weekend day be a “down day” for all of us. Try to not really schedule anything and spend some time relaxing or doing something we love. This is a massive step for us and a much break!

I also want to focus on my blog this year and make it a priority. I have to admit I do have SO much to learn, so many courses to get through, and it’s going to take me some time to get really good with it… but I will make it happen! Even though it is so much work, I really do love learning and growing to hopefully be successful one day. This is something I would love to do in the long run and very hopeful to make it happen. In the past, I put it on the back burner, but I am really trying to set aside time to learn as much as I can right now. I never knew how much time, effort and creativity went into blogging but its way more than you can imagine! I can’t wait to see what this year holds for me as I put as much effort as I can into making the blog amazing!

I can’t wait to see the progress I make this year with my goals for myself and my family. Last year was a huge hit for my family and hoping we can take the experiences, losses and move in the right direction for 2019. I know it won’t be easy and we will probably stumble along the way but as long as we keep the right mindset anything is possible. We welcome you 2019, can’t wait to see what you have in store! Let me know in the comments some of your goals for the new year – I would love to hear them!

Simple Pumpkin Spice Muffins For Fall!

Oh my goodness this month has got the best of me so far. I have been so sad because I have barely had any time to blog this month and I do miss it. I have a couple of things I would love to get posted for Thanksgiving and start moving onto Christmas crafts… and the ‘Dash’ the elf antics before long! Why do the holidays seem to go by so quickly? I can’t be the only one that feels this way. I do have to say that 2018 has been one heck of a year for us but it has gone rather quickly. Can time slow down for a little bit, please!

I wanted to share with you all an amazing muffin recipe that I have loved to make for years now. One of my friends passed the recipe to me a while back and it has been a ‘go to’ fall recipe for our family now. Simple, yummy pumpkin recipes are literally my favorite this time of year. I am not one to fuss over pumpkin spice everything but if I get a chance to throw some pumpkin into desserts, I am totally all over that! These pumpkin muffins use two ingredients and you can add cream cheese frosting on top too! We have done them both ways and they taste amazing however you make them. The kids can even help out with this recipe!

Pumpkin Spice Box Cake Mix

Can of Pumpkin – 15oz

Optional – cream cheese frosting or cupcake liners

Dump cake mix and can of pumpkin into a bowl.

Mix super good – this step will take some time to do!

Spray the muffin pan with Pam or put in cupcake liners –  split batch evenly between all 12 muffins. It will look lumpy and messy in the muffin tin. This is completely normal.

Cook at 350 degrees for 20 minutes – the recipe yields 12 muffins.

If you decide to put frosting on them, make sure they have cooled off completely. These pumpkin muffins are delicious with and without frosting on them too. I know my household will eat them both ways! These pumpkin spice muffins are so quick to make on busy weekends when you need a dessert or snack to bring to an event – even Thanksgiving! Stay tuned as I will try to get a couple more desserts posted before the holiday weekend. I am bummed that I was not able to do more during this month, but hey, we all do get busy. We have been consumed with school, football, and tons of kids here with me working long hours. I always seem to have high hopes and get disappointed when I am not able to get it all done. We have a long weekend ahead of us so plan to hear a lot from me and get back on track. I hope you all have a fabulous Thanksgiving holiday!

Glow In The Dark Slime Recipe

Oh my goodness, I was trying to get this glow in the dark slime recipe up on the blog before Halloween, but life got the best of me. Things just were busy last week just like everybody else. Halloween slap dab in the middle of the week seemed to throw me for a loop. The weekend before we just did a Halloween party with family and friends that happened to be super fun! Anyways, I am going to post this anyways and hopefully; you can give it a try even though Halloween has passed us by quickly! Its relatively simple and doesn’t take too many supplies to make. This slime recipe the kids loved to create and checked it out glowing in the container daily. I still get asked often to go into the dark to see it glowing!

Glow In The Dark Slime Supplies:

Liquid Starch –Sta-Flo DIA13101 Concentrated Liquid Starch, 64 Oz Bottle – Pack of 1

Clear Glue –ELMERS 2024691 Elmer’s Liquid School Glue, Clear, Washable, 32 Ounces – Great for Making Slime

Glow In The Dark Craft Paint – DecoArt DS50-10 Glow-in-the-Dark Paint, 4-Ounce

  1. Pour 1/4 cup liquid starch into a bowl and stir in 2 Tablespoons of the glow in the dark paint.
  2. When it is thoroughly mixed – pour in 1/4 cup of clear glue.

The slime, when done like the recipe above should be a great consistency but may change depending on the brand of paint you used. We had to do no extra steps, but I have seen others need to dab off some excess liquid after mixing. We bought these cool containers on Amazon for all the slime we tend to make here recently so we can keep it together and not use up all my plastic Tupperware for food. Here is the link if interested.

Deli Food Storage Containers with Lids, 16 Ounce (50 Count)

When the slime is of perfect consistency, you will need to “charge” it under a light before taking it into a dark room. You may use a black light if you have one or we just used a flashlight to charge it and test it in our bathroom. Any light will do for this project but the longer and brighter light the better it will glow. This project is perfect for kids of all ages and no matter what time of year. I know it seems much more Halloween related, but we will probably make this often since the kids love it so much. If you give it a try, please comment and let me know how it goes for you!
